4 Rack integrity, use, and maintenance
Owner responsibilities Owners shall maintain the structural integrity of the installed storage rack system by assuring proper operational, housekeeping, and maintenance procedures including, but not limited to, the following:
a) Conduct periodic inspection of the storage rack system for damage and take appropriate steps to repair or replace damaged portions of the storage rack system (see 4.4).
b) Conduct periodic inspection of the storage rack system for out-of-plumb and out-of-straight requirements (see 4.10) and deflection limits (see 9.3).
c) Install load plaques (see 4.5) and maintaining load application and rack configuration drawings (see 4.6) for storage rack systems.
d) Prohibit any overloading of any pallet positions and of the overall rack system.
e) Require all pallets to be maintained in good, safe, operating condition.
f) Ensure that pallets are properly placed onto pallet load support members in a properly stacked and stable position.
g) Require that all goods stored on each pallet be properly stacked and stable.
h) Prohibit double stacking of any pallet position, including the top-most position, unless the rack system is specifically designed for such loading.
i) Ensure that the racks are not modified or rearranged in a manner not within the original design configurations described in 4.6, or as might invalidate the plaque information as described in 0.
